How much funding did we secure for the Bay Leadership Academy (formerly Heysham High School) in July 2019?
£455,532 to improve the building - renovations such as roof and window repairs, playground resurfacing, and heating system repairs.
Also allocated £18,012 from the annual devolved formula capital allocation.
What happened to Skerton Community High School?
Labour’s LCC administration closed it on 31 August 2014. The school was described as “inadequate” by Ofsted, and the number of pupils was dwindling (less than 200). The school was in the bottom 10% for helping students improve. Residents have said it was held in high regard by the local community for 80 years.
What has David Morris called for to happen to Skerton Community High School?
At the time when it was closed, DM secured a moratorium on the land so that it could not be sold off and had to be used as an educational facility.
DM wants to bring it back as an academy.
