A

Address the ‘taper problem’ which causes many doctors to turn down extra shifts for fear of high tax bills. We announced we would hold a review within our first 30 days, and we did this, working with the BMA and the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges.

A

Extend the successful Cancer Drugs Fund into a £500 million Innovative Medicines Fund so that doctors can use the most advanced, life-saving treatments for conditions such as cancer or autoimmune diseases, or for people with rare diseases.

A

It should be treat with the same seriousness as physical health. We will legislate so that patients suffering from mental health conditions receive greater control over their treatment.

A

An independent review will be commissioned into the 2005 Gambling Act to update it for the modern, digital age – making recommendations on:

  • prize and stake limits;
  • the misuse of credit card payments;
  • putting the voluntary levy on a statutory footing
  • new ways of raising revenue for problem gambling support

The number of NHS gambling clinics will be increased from 2 to 14.

A

Make sure patients can benefit from digital booking and consultations offered by phone, Skype or online if they want them. Ensure patients can speak to the right person at the right time. In addition, changes will enable remote working for GPs, enabling GPs to work in more modern and flexible ways, which should increase patients’ access to out of hours online, Skype and phone appointments.

Finding a cure is one of the government’s main priorities. We will double funding for research, and speed up trials for new treatments. £1.6 billion will be invested in research over the coming decade - the largest boost to dementia research ever in the UK. It’s an extra £83 million a year.
