- create a hierarchy: what is most tolerable?
least? steps-in between? - determine relaxation behaviors: what can i engage in to relax?
- systematically teach when to use relaxation: prime initially- start when calm, teach proactively, introduce low level events in structured situations to practice responses, fade towards more natural settings, gradually move up in hierarchy
