MODULE 2.03 THE TRAINING SESSION PART 2 VIDEO Flashcards
How should the coach carry out differentiated
integration in a planning program?
- Soccer is a team sport. We have to continually fight against individual egos.
Egos destroy a team.
- The coaches priority is to foster a high level of dependence between
all of the teammates, because it’s the only way that a potentially talented
player can continue to become optimized with the help of others.
- On the other hand, those players who are less talented will observe
what the talented player does, thus learning new elements and new situations.
Therefore, the relationship between the individual and team is an
in disputable aspect of all training sessions.
PART 1
How should he/ she specifically and personally approach each player,
while keeping in mind that the ultimate goal is the performance of the team?
The coach’s interventions with a particular player should be carried out
during practice, avoiding an individual rebuke while the group is present.
PART 2
How should he/ she specifically and personally approach each player,
while keeping in mind that the ultimate goal is the performance of the team?
- The interventions must be condensed, with specific and relevant
information that supports the player so that he/she
immediately returns to his/her group practice
- What the coach can do within a team practice is take the player
aside for a moment and give him/her some advice, or require him/her
to identify the purpose of performing a certain action. By extracting the player
during team play, he/she is able to recognize his/her identity and can
differentiate his/her playing style from that of his/her teammates but
continue practicing immediately after.
- The whole team doesn’t have to stop so that the coach can pull a player
aside for a moment. No. During practice, do we suddenly stop? No. We
keep playing and the coach takes the player aside for a moment. We’ll talk
to him/her for a few seconds about an important matter, and then
integrate him/her back into the group.
- All practice done in a team must always be done collectively. The team either
helps one another, or part of the team can play as opponents against
the others so that there is opposition. And that conscious opposition which
identifies those who are playing as opponents, lets their teammates know
what they’re capable of.
