What are touch pens and what can they be used for
Touch pens activate the interface without touching the screen with fingers
Can be used to take handwritten notes or signatures
What is an active stylus and what does it do
Active stylus is a more advanced writing tool which artists may use
They must be compatible with the tablet in order to use the buttons/pressure sensitivity on the pen
Buttons can be programmable to suit the individual
What is a drawing pad and what does it do
Takes an active stylus and an external digitiser (eg drawing pad) and allows it to use across many systems/third party devices
What is a trackpad and what does it do
A trackpad is found on laptops and is used when there is no external mouse to use
You can also add an external trackpad to a desktop instead of a mouse and is used the same way as one found on a laptop, with some extensions (finger presses, zoom in and out)
What is a headset and what does it do
A headset allows hands free audio and a microphone in one
They can come wired via USB, 3.5mm TRRS (tip ring ring sleeve) lightening port, or wireless
What is a speaker and what does it do
A speaker is used to allow better audio from the original device via Bluetooth
Has better sound as the speakers are bigger than the ones used in a mobile
It also is a portable option
What is a camera/webcam and what does it do
They can be internal or external and found on most devices
It allows us to be accessible from multimedia applications, video chat and photo utilities
What is a docking station and what does it do
Docking station connects all wires needed for a laptop (speakers, mouse, monitor etc) but keeps it in one location
This avoids cable issues and having to bring everything with you when going from home to work
What is a port replicator and what does it do
Very similar to a docking station but is connected to the laptop via USB
Doesn’t have expansion card available like the docking station
Other ports are available to use aswell (hdmi, USB C, headphone jack)
