What do we use connectivity for
There is wired and wireless connectivity
These are used for things like WiFi, syncing (iCloud) backup
What does USB stand for
Universal Serial Bus
What is USB used for
Used for charging and data transfers using a high speed wired connection
How many types of USB are there
Type A (standard usb)
Mini B (ps3 remotes)
Micro B (JBL speaker)
USB C (new phones)
What can USB C transmit
Display port
HDMI
Thunderbolt
Also can be used for both hosts and devices
Acts as a USB 2.0/3.0/3.1/4 connection
Advantages of apple lightening cable
Uses an 8 pin signal
Can be inserted either way (unlike some USB)
Simple design
Higher power output for phones and tablets
What is a serial interface
DB-9 (9 pin connection) or also know as DE-9
What are serial interfaces used for
They were used before USB connection were a thing
Commonly used for RS-232 signals (recommended standard 232)

To send small amounts of data wirelessly over a ranged area (Apple Pay, WiFi sharing)
They are built into phones already
Can also be used as an identity card (locking a door for example wirelessly)
