Mitosis Flashcards
1
Q
Stages of mitosis?
A
prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase
2
Q
Prophase?
A
- Chromatin fibres begin to coil and condense to form chromosome. Nuclear membrane starts to brake down. 2.Protein microtubules form spindle shaped structures linking the poles of the cell. fibres forming the spindle are needed to move chromosomes into positiom before divison. 3.In animal and some plant cells, two centrioles migrate to opposite poles of the cell. 4.The spindle fibres attatch to specific areas on the centromeres and start to move chromosomes to the central of the cell. 5. Nuclear envelope envelope has disappeared
3
Q
Metaphase?
A
chromosomes are noved by the spindle fibres to form a plane in the centre of the cell, called thr metaphase plate and then held in position
4
Q
Anaphase?
A
- centromeres holding together the pairs of chromatids in each each divide during anaphase.
- chromatids are separated, pulling to opposite poles of the cell by shortening spindle fibre’s.
- characteristic V shape of the chromatid moving towards the poles is the result of them being dragged by their centromeres through cytosolic
5
Q
Telophase?
A
- Chromatids have reached the poles, now called chromosomes.
- two sets of chromosomes assemble and nuclear envelope forms around them, chromosomes uncoil and nucleolus is formed
