A

purpose: test integrity of posterior SI ligaments

(hips and knees must have full ROM and no pathology)

examiner stabilizes pelvis
pt knee flexed to 90 & hip is rotated medially as far as possible and palpating SI joint on same side

positive: pain in SI region

A

purpose: test for tight rec fem, nerve root lesion, SI lesion, hypomobile SI joint

pt prone
flex knee to buttocks

positive: pain felt in the front of the leg indicating a tight quad muscle (rec fem)

therapist places hands on hip bones and pushes in and down at 45 degree angle

positive: pain around pelvic region

flex knee and bring towards their head

A

purpose: test for SI joint lesion or lesion in pubic symphysis

pt standing holding onto chair
slightly lifts one leg off ground
if no pain have them hop up and down a couple times

positive: pain in pelvic region (pubic symphysis or SI) wherever pain is felt is where lesion is

therpaist sitting and palpate PSIS with one thumb and sacrum w other
have them lift leg of PSIS being palpated

pt standing, holding onto chair for support
lifts one knee up to chest
examiner watching to see pelvis of lifted leg side collapses down

positive: if pelvis on lifted knee side falls - considered positive and indicates glute med weakness

A

purpose: test for facet joint irritation

pt standing, ask them to rotate and slide hand down midway on the back of thigh
examiner stabilizes pelvis and applies downward pressure on their shoulder

positive - pain in low back or down leg of side being tested
