A
Metabolised by the liver.
Excreted by the kidneys.

A
- Status epilepticus
- Sedation to enable intubation
- Post intubation sedation
- Sedation to facilitate synch cardioversion
- Sedation to facilitate transthoracic pacing
- Sedation in the agitated pt
- Sedation in psychostimulant OD

List the contraindication for Midazolam.
A
- Known hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines.

List the precautions for Midazolam.
A
- Reduced doses may be required for the elderly/frail, pts with chronic renal failure, CCF or shock.
- CNS depressant effects are enhanced in the presence of narcotics/other tranquilisers including alcohol.
- Can cause severe respiratory depression in pts with COPD
- Pts with myasthenia gravis
