Explain - Newspapers will look at the government and try to find a scandal to report on, this can be influential as it causes the govt. to act

Explain - broadcasters have to be balanced in their reporting, by putting on leadership debates they allow the public to see how the political leaders do under pressure
Example - recent studies shown that voters thought that the 2023 March SNP debate on STV was the most influential
POINT - RUNNING THEIR OWN CAMPAIGNS
Explain - newspapers support an issue that they think is really important and use their power to question politicians and influence public opinion.
Example - Daily Record had been running a campaign to decriminalise drugs which the SNP later supported
