Transmission of meilioid?
Most acquisition percutaneous, also
respiratory and perhaps GI
Risk factors for meilioidosis?
T2DM, alcohol use, chronic renal disease, chronic lung dis (anything that causes neutrophil defects)
Differences of chronic meilioidosis?
CXR upper lobe changes, not bacteraemic
What is the classical skin lesion appearance of meiliodosis?
Localised lesions, ulcer
Diagnosis of meilioidosis?
Gram stain - pink (gram -ve)
Culture
Antigen detection assay
