Scope of practice
Range of duties and skills that a paramedic is allowed and expected to perform when needed.
Licensure
An agency of the government gives consent to a person to engage in a profession.
Certification
Granted by a governmental body,city county or state. Or a nongovernmental certifying agency.
Duty to act
Must provide emergency care when requested while working for an Ems service. May be formal or contractual.
When off duty
Paramedic can only perform bls
Standard of care
Measure of competence of a professional , did you do the right thing and did you do it properly.
Involuntary consent
Care that is granted by the authority of law.
Assault
Creating apprehension or unauthorized handling and treatment of patients.
Example :
Threatening to restrain a patient u less the patient quiets down.
Battery
Physical contacts with persons without their consent and without legal cause.
Example:
Drawing blood without permission
