What is leukocyte adhesion deficiency
Defective integrins on the leukocyte surface, neutrophils are thus unable to migrate
What are the s/sx of leukocyte adhesion def?
DELAYED UMBILICAL CORD SEPARATION; Recurrent skin and mucosal infections (cellulitis, abscess, periodontal), poor wound healing, lack of purulence, bx devoid of neutrophils; marked leukocytosis and neutrophilia
What is Wallenberg syndrome?
Lateral medullary syndrome; associated with vertebral artery dissection, see vertigo, ipsilateral ataxia)
What is the genetic defect in Prader-Willi syndrome?
Deletion of paternal 15q11-q13
What is the genetic defect in Angelman syndrome?
Deletion of maternal 15q11-q13
How is sustained monomorphic vtach managed?
HDS - IV amiodarone; extremely symptomatic/not HDS - synchronized cardioversion
How is Ventricular fibrillation or pulseless Vtach managed?
Immediate defibrillation
What is the MOA of oxybutinin in urge incontinence?
Antimuscarinic - results in increased bladder capacity and decrease detrusor contractions by reducing Ach activity
What is the use of duloxetine in incontience?
Can be used for stress incontinence in patients with unipolar depression
What is the MOA of bethanechol?
Cholinergic agonist - used in urinary retention due to neurogenic bladder
What is the inheritance pattern of G6PD def?
X linked

What is treatment for eczema herpeticum?
Systemic acyclovir
What medications can cause tardive dyskinesia?
Antipsychotics and metoclopramide
What is the treatment for tardive dyskinesia?
Stop offending agent if possible; switch to second gen antipsychotic (quetiapine, clozapine); treat with valbenazine (inhibitor of vesicular monoamine transporter 2)
