MASTER WARNING/EICAS/DCU Flashcards
What data system provides interfaces between the No. 1 and No. 2 DCUs and the IVHMU?
(WP 0033)
The ARINC -429 data bus interfaces the No. 1 and No. 2 DCUs to the Integrated Vehicle Health Management Unit (IVHMU).
How is the EICAS used with the engine and subsystem sensors in the UH-60M? What are the basic components?
(WP 0031)
The Engine Instrument and Crew Alert System (EICAS), used in conjunction with engine and subsystem sensors (temperature, pressure, torque, fuel, and RPM), provides the pilots with engine and subsystem monitoring. The system consists of the pilot’s and copilot’s inboard Multifunction Displays (MFDs), pilot’s and copilot’s outboard MFDs on the instrument panel, and the No. 1 Data Concentrator Unit (DCU) and No. 2 DCU, located in the transition section above the fuel cells.
What component controls the audible warning function and where does the control voltage (signal) originate from? What relay selects the beeping or steady tone?
(WP 0031)
The control voltages provided by the EICAS to the LOW ROTOR RPM and #1 and #2 ENG OUT capsules also control low rotor RPM and engine-out audible warning signals. The EICAS signals energize a relay in the left relay panel that controls an audible warning circuit.
Relay K44 energizes, selecting the beeping warning tone output from the audible warning unit.
What bus/busses provide power to the master warning system? Where are they located?
(WP 0032)
Electrical power of 28 vdc is supplied by the No. 1 and No. 2 dc essential bus and routed through the PLT MSTR WARN and CPLT MSTR WARN circuit breakers to the master warning panels, LAMPS TEST switch, the left relay panel, and pilot’s and copilot’s mwc logic box.
How are the MASTER CAUTION PRESS TO RESET capsules illuminated?
(WP 0032)
When any caution legend goes on, a signal is applied to a master caution circuit in the MFDs. This circuit applies a 28 vdc signal to the pilot’s and copilot’s master warning panels to light the MASTER CAUTION PRESS TO RESET capsules. These capsules remain on until the caution condition is removed or until manually reset by pressing either MASTER CAUTION PRESS TO RESET capsule. This applies a 28 vdc reset signal to the master caution light circuit to reset it for another caution input.
What relay when closed results in the stabilator audio? What relay when closed results in the engine out audio? Which has priority?
(WP 0032)
With a stabilator warning condition present, the 28 vdc stabilator warning signal is applied through the normally closed contacts of relay K49 to the audible warning unit and to the solenoid of relay K44. Relay K44 energizes, selecting the beeping warning tone output from the audible warning unit.
What is the Data Concentrator unit (DCU)?
Microprocessor-based controller that is designed to accept discrete and anaologue data inputs from aircraft equipment and sensors, and format the data into MIL-STD-1553, RS-422, and ARINC 429 digital databases.
What are the components of the EICAS?
Pilot and copilot inboard Multifunction Displays (MFDs),
Pilot and copilot outboard MFDs
No. 1 Data Concentrator Unit (DCU) and No. 2 DCU
Rotor overspeed reset switch
The Master warning system gets DC electrical power from what?
Electrical power of 28 VDC is supplied by the No. 1 and No. 2 DC essential bus
When any caution legend goes on, a signal is applied to a master caution circuit in the MFDs. This circuit applies what?
A 28 V DC signal to the pilot and copilot’s master warning panels to light the MASTER CAUTION PRESS TO RESET capsules.
