HIT/MAX PWR/AUTO Flashcards
What may cause a TGT rise of less the 30° C or 110° C or more during a HIT baseline or operational HIT check?
Increase in TGT of at least 30°C (54°F) but less than 110°C (198°F). If TGT rise is not within these limits, the engine or airframe inlet valve may be faulty.
What is the purpose of the Baseline Engine HIT and Anti-Icing Bleed and Start Valve Check? Can it be performed following the maximum power check? WP0150
During the Baseline Engine HIT, the maintenance pilot compensates for the particular engine characteristic and establishes the TGT Limits to be used in the Operational ENgine HIT. THe operational pilot will compare day-to-day engine performance utilizing current environmental conditions against the Baseline Engine HIT to check engine performance.
NOTE: Prior to completing maximum power check, a new Baseline Engine Health Indicator Test (HIT) is established by the maintenance test pilot and used if engine performance is satisfactory on the maximum power check.
The IVHMS will prompt the operator to perform which preliminary functions during a #1/#2 Engine Baseline? (Reference Student Handout)
● Position the helicopter into the Wind
● Ensure Engine Anti-Ice is OFF
● Ensure Heater is OFF
● Set Main Rotor Speed to 100%
● Adjust Collective to 60% Torque
During a Baseline Engine HIT Check, when the required tasks have been completed for each engine, what information is calculated and displayed by IVHMS? (Reference Student Handout)
● Date of Test
● TGT Margin
● Upper Limit
● Lower Limit Indicated TGT
● Pressure Altitude
● Outside Ait Temperature
● Table TGT
● Indicated Air Speed
When conducting an autorotational RPM check when may the ENG POWER CONT lever manipulation be required?
NOTE: If NR does not decouple from NP at 96.5% due to gross weight or conditions ENG POWER CONT lever manipulation may be required.
What is the projected rotor speed for the autorotation RMP check for a DA of 4,000 and gross weight of 18,000 lbs? Actual has to be within how much?
115% RPMR (+/-3%)
After placing the ENG ANTI-ICE switch to ON, A TGT rise of 110° C was noted. Does this indicate a possible failure of the Engine Anti-Icing Bleed and Start Valve?
Yes. An increase in TGT of at least 30°C (54°F) but less than 110°C (198°F) would indicate a properly functioning AISBV, a rise of 110°C would exceed the “less than 110°C” requirement.
What must be done first if the torque on the engine not being checked does not indicate less than 5% after 5 minutes of operation? (After grounding the aircraft)
Perform troubleshooting procedures per WP Both Engines Oscillate at FLY while at Low Collective Pitch Settings
During the Baseline Engine HIT, the maintenance pilot compensates for the particular engine characteristic and establishes the ________ to be used in the Operational Engine HIT.
TGT Limits
How is the baseline TGT margin calculated?
Average indicated TGT minus Table TGT
IVHMS must be operational in order to perform the MAX power check.
FALSE
What engine parameters must not be exceeded on the engine being checked during the MAX power check?
879° C and 135% Q
During the TGT (10-Minute) Limiter Check, how is it determined that the engine is NG limited?
NR droop occurs and TGT limiting at the 10-minute limit cannot be obtained
If weather conditions or NG limiting prevent the limiter check from being performed, can the aircraft be released for flight?
Yes. A logbook entry is made stating, “Aircraft TGT Limiter Setting Determination Due“ or “Aircraft TGT Limiter Setting/Contingency Power Check due when ambient conditions permit.”
What is a consideration when moving the PCLs from the IDLE to FLY during the recovery phase of the autorotational RPM Check?
If care is not taken, the PCLs could be placed inadvertently into lockout
