FMDS/MFD/FD-DCP Flashcards
What components make up the FMDS?
• 4 MFDS
• 2 Reversionary Panels
• 2 Multifunction Slew Controllers
• 2 Electronic Flight Instrument Set (EFIS) junction boxes
When the EICAS parameter values from the two DCUs exceeds the predefined “miscompare threshold”, a corresponding miscompare indication is displayed on the Engine Instrument page. How is the miscompare indicated?
When a display detects a difference between the DCU1 and DCU2 inputs for a given parameter in excess of a predefined miscompare threshold (and for a sustained period of time), a corresponding miscompare indication is displayed on the Engine Instrument page. The miscompare is indicated by displaying the parameter label as a yellow flag (black text on yellow background).
What component allows for the adjustment of the local pressure reference setting? How is that information transmitted to the ADCs?
The Flight Director/Display Control Panels (FD/DCPs) provide for manual adjustment of the local pressure reference setting. The setting is then sent to the ADCs from the Multifunction Displays (MFDs) through the EFIS junction box via ARINC 429. A digital readout of the setting is displayed below the barometric altitude indicator on the Primary Flight Display (PFD). The displayed setting indicates the value the ADC is using for barometric altitude computation.
What is the primary function and location of the EFIS junction boxes?
EFIS Junction BoxesThe No. 1 and No. 2 EFIS junction boxes provide for signal routing of ARINC 429 lines to all MFDs. The No. 1 EFIS junction box is located on the canted bulkhead left side, and the No. 2 EFIS junction box is located on the canted bulkhead right side.
What is the purpose of the reversionary switch panels?
Reversionary Switch Panels- The reversionary switch panels provide the ADC reversionary functions. The reversionary switch panels are located on the instrument panel, below each outboard MFD.
What action is taken when a MFD locks up?
MFD is faulty, cycle MFD mode select switch to OFF, then back to ON.
How is data related to the navigation and communication systems sent and received by the MFDs?
The No. 1 and No. 2 EFIS junction boxes provide a means of connecting signal sources (ARINC-429, discretes, and analogs) to the MFDs. Data from helicopter navigation, flight director, and communication sets displayed on the MFDs are routed through the EFIS junction boxes to the MFDs over ARINC-429 data lines then sent to the MFD’s.
Where can the Multi-Function Slew Controller CURSOR BUTTON 1 discrete signal be tested on the MFDs? (Reference Student Handout)
NOTE: As a rule of thumb, I test slew controller inputs on the closest MFD
Input Monitoring – Discrete Page
How do you access the MFD status display?
The Status Monitor Display Mode is entered by simultaneously pressing the VID BRT and VID CON switches.
What MFD Provides the excitation voltage for the Copilots MFSC?
Copilots inboard MFD NO 2 MFD
What indication will you receive on the both pilot and copilots PFD’s when both DCU reversionary switches are selected
Both PFDS will display Yellow Yellow indications. (dummy indication)
What is the parameter value for the NO 1 EGI in the pitch axis?
-1.0DEG
What is the bus status for the PLS?
Inactive
What pitch captured modes can be displayed on the PFD?
IAS, DECL, POSN, ATT, VHLD
How are engine and propulsion miscompares indicated?
Black text over yellow background
