Fuel Flashcards
The UH-60M Fuel System consist of what components?
The system consists of two main fuel tanks, a fuel quantity system, and a fuel low-level warning system.
How many high-level shutoff valves are in the fuel system?
2 on Each Tank. A high-level shutoff valve in each tank closes the pressure refueling valve in the tank when the tank is full
What is the location and purpose of the thermistor beads?
The sensor, at the lower portion of the fuel quantity probe, contains a thermistor which senses the presence or absence of fuel.
Where is the detent for the fuel selector levers take place?
The levers are connected by push-pull cables to fuel selector valves
What maintains the prime in the main fuel lines?
The check valve (one at each pump outlet) prevents loss of engine fuel line prime.
What are the fuel system’s main components?
· Lines from the main fuel tanks
· Firewall-mounted selector valves
· Prime/boost pump
· Fuel tanks
· Engine-driven suction pumps.
What is contained in each fuel cell?
· A pressure refuel/defuel valve
· Fuel quantity and low-level sensors
· High-level shutoff valve and low-level shutoff valve
· Check valve sump drain
· Self-sealing breakaway vent valve.
What is the CEFS?
A self-sealing, single point pressure reusable, externally carried, auxiliary fuel tank system
What are the primary components of the CEFS?
· An external 200 gallon crashworthy fuel tank
· Suction fuel transfer pump
· Auxiliary Fuel Management Panel (AFMP), located in the cockpit
· CEFS information presented to the pilots on the MFDs.
What are the two methods of jettisoning external stores?
The primary jettison subsystem and the emergency jettison subsystem.
What are the three methods of refueling the UH-60M?
· Gravity refueling
· Pressure refueling
· Closed circuit refueling.
