What are the two functions of the testes?
A
- Production, storage, and deposition of sperm cells (spermatogonia)
- Production of male sex hormones (testosterone)

What are the functions of the Sertoli cell? Know that these cells are responsible for the blood testes barrier.
A
Acts as a “nurse” cell for the developing spermatozoa.
Prevents immune response against developing spermatozoa, and also protects against harmful materials in the blood. Outermost portion of the tubule, against boundary layer.
Defines two separate and physiologically different compartments of the seminiferous tubule.
Has access to the bloodstream and components of the immune system.
Sertoli (sustentacular cells) are responsible for the blood testis barrier.

A
They produce testosterone.
