Main Turbine Lube Oil (MTLO) Flashcards
What is the purpose of the MTLO system?
provides lube oil to the main turbine and generator bearings
provides lube oil to the lift oil pumps’
supplies oil to the generator seal oil system
what is the heat sink for the MTLO coolers?
TC
What system powers the ESOP and EBOP?
NKN-M46
The MTLO system is a backup oil supply for what system?
Generator seal oil when both the main and emergency seal oil pumps fail
What system purifies the MTLO system?
OS - Lube oil storage and transfer
What is the capacity of the LO reservoir and what is normal level?
Capacity of 11200 gallons
Normal level of 8550 gallons
What is the main shaft oil pump rated for?
1500gpm and 235psig @ 3600rpm
What is the motive force used to drive the booster pump?
Oil driven turbine where a portion of the main shaft oil pump discharge is routed to the inlet of the turbine
What provides the motive force for the Main shaft oil pump and where is it located?
Gear driven from the HP turbine shaft and is located in the HP turbine housing on the 176’
What pump is used if the booster pump output is insufficient to drive the oil driven turbine?
The motor suction pump will be used to supply the Main shaft oil pump suction
What is the purpose of the motor suction pump?
To provide the main shaft driven oil pump with a source of oil to its suction when the turbine speed is less than 90%
The booster pump will have sufficient capacity when the turbine speed is greater than 90%
What is the motor suction pump rated for?
1500 gpm @ 15psig
What is the purpose of the turning gear oil pump?
To provide bearing oil to the turbine bearings while the turbine is on the turning gear or when it is coming up to speed
What is the turning gear oil pump rated for?
1275gpm @ 43psig
What signals would cause an auto start of the turning gear oil pump?
Main shaft oil low discharge pressure @ 190psig
Low bearing oil pressure @ 15psig
