Feedwater Pump/Turbine Lube Oil System Flashcards
What is the purpose of the FWP/Turbine lube oil system?
Provides lube oil to the bearings of the FWP and turbine.
Supplies control oil to the FWP turbine control system
MFWP lube oil pump, which stage provides low pressure oil to supply the FW pump and turbine bearing headers?
What does the 4th stage provide?
First stage.
Higher pressure discharge used to supply the FW turbine control oil header
What provides the cooling medium to the FP lube oil system
TC
What pressure is maintained in the LP oil header?
55psig
What happens if we lose AC power to the oil pumps?
Emergency pump discharges directly into the pump and turbine bearing oil supply lines, bypassing the oil coolers and filters
What are the regulators for the bearing headers set at?
12psig
What powers the MFW main oil pumps?
NH
What powers the vapor extractor blowers?
NH
What does NK power in the FW lube oil system?
MFW emergency oil pumps
What system purifies the feed pump lube oil and transfers lube oil to and from the reservoir?
Lube oil storage, transfer and purification system (LOST)
What is the capacity of the FW pump oil reservoir?
1000gallons
Where is the the lube oil reservoir located?
Front of the turbine and extends under the governor casing
where are the FWP/turbine main oil pumps located?
mounted in the reservoir with the motors on the reservoir
What is the pressure of the low pressure discharge?
60-65psig
What is the pressure reduced to for the bearings?
12psig
What is the pressure of the high pressure discharge?
220psig
under normal operations, how many lube oil pumps are running?
1 running and 1 in standby
When would the standby lube oil pump start?
Low oil header pressure of 195psig (high pressure oil header is the one monitored)
what is the purpose of the TEST push button for the lube oil pumps and where is that switch normally operated?
to test the auto start feature of the main lube oil pumps.
normally done from the control room
What is the discharge pressure of the emergency lube oil pump?
12psig
when will the emergency lube oil pump auto start? what is it meant for?
Upon receipt of a pump and turbine bearing low oil pressure of 37 psig.
only provides lube for coast down since it doesnt supply control oil or the trip headers
Where are the lube oil coolers located?
110’ turbine bearing at the end of the feed pumps
where are the vapor extractors located?
140’ turbine building
What is the purpose of the vapor extractors?
what else does the vapor extractors do?
to create negative pressure in the oil reservoir, which will cause an inward flow of air thru the bearing oil deflectors in the bearing housing that will eliminate leakage of oil out thru the oil deflectors.
They also remove explosive gasses and air moisture in the MFWP oil reservoir
