Mechanism of action of MgSO4?

A

Blocks release of acetylcholine @ the myoneural junction. This results in smooth muscle relaation in bronchoconstriction and uterine contractions. Stabilizes cardia myocyte in torsades.

Torsades, eclamptic seizures, premature labor, bronchospasm refractory (ineffective) to Beta2 agonists
