Drug class of Epi?
sympathomimetic
Mechanism of action of Epi?
Alpha and Beta agonist (altho there’s more alpha than beta). Increase in chrono, ino, and dromo effects. Will cause some bronchodilation
Indications for Epi?
Cardiac arrest, anaphylaxis, asthma, symptomatic bradycardia
Contraindications for Epi?
tachycardia, hypertension, hypothermia, Pulmonary Embolism, MYOCARDIAL ISCHEMIA, hypovolemic shock
Adverse effects of Epi?
nervous, tachy, hypertensive, headache
Precautions for Epi?
Pretentious to other sympathomimetics, deactivates alkaline solutions and beta-blockers
Anaphylaxis and asthma dose/concentration of Epi?
0.3-0.5mg in a 1 : 1,000 solution
Cardiac arrest dosage/concentration of Epi?
1mg in a 1 : 10,000 solution, every Q 3-5mins until you run out.
Which route can Epi 1 : 1,000 be given?
IM/SubQ only!
Which route can Epi 1 : 10,000 be given?
IV or IO only!
