Increases inotrope. Constricts systemic vasculature. Increase myocardial contractility and stroke volume.
What makes Dobutamine different from Dopamine?
Dobutamine lacks chronotropic effects
Indications for Dobutamine
Cardiogenic shock, CHF, left ventricular dysfunction
Contraindications for Dobutamine
hypovolemic shock, v-fib, pheochromocytoma, and tachydysrhythmias
Adverse effects of Dobutamine
headache, anxiety, dyspnea, palpitations, chest pain, cardiac dysrhythmias (PVCs)
Precautions of Dobutamine
Incompatible with sodium bicarb and Forusemide. Beta-blockers will blunt inotropic effects
Dose and admin of Dobutamine
2-20mcg/kg/min to the max of 40mcg/kg/min
