LYSOSOMES Flashcards
In which cells lysosomes are found in abundance ?
They are abundant in the cells which are mainly involved in phagocytosis. example - macrophages.
What are lysosomes
They are the polymorphic cell organelles of the cell
What is the structure of the lysosomes ?
- Single membrane bound structure
- pH =< 5 (acidic)
- Have the abundance of hydrolytic enzyme such as lipases , protases , phosphatases , sulphatases , amylase etc.
What is the origin of lysosomes ?
Origin :- GERL
What is the marker enzyme of the lysosomes ?
ACID PHOSPHATASE
What are the types of the lysosomes ?
- Primary lysosomes
2. Secondary lysosomes
What are primary lysosomes ?
- They are formed by the Golgi body
2. They contain inactive enzyme
What are secondary lysosomes and what are its types ?
- They are formed from type primary lysosomes due to budding
- They contain active enzyme
- They are of 4 types namely
a) Phagosome
b) Autophagosome
c) Residual body
d) Autophagic vacuole
What are phagosomes ?
Secondary lysosomes associated with the foreign body
What are autophagosome ?
Secondary lysosome associated with the old and dead cell organelles
What are residual bodies ?
Secondary lysosome containing the undigested waste
It generally comes near to PM and discharge all its content outside the cell (exocytosis)
What is polynephrites ?
Sometime when residual body fails to do the discharge of its content and they instead load the cell and bring aging in the cell .
Absent of ephagy in the cell is known as polynephrites
In which diseases polynephrites can result in to
?
- Gout
- Arthritis
- Cystic fibrosis
What is the autophagic vacuole ?
- It is formed by the cluster of several primary lysosome near the waste and they surround it like vacuolar membrane and bring about its autolysis or auto digestion.
