CHROMOSOMES {BASIS - POSITION} Flashcards
1
Q
What are the types of chromosomes on the basis of their position ?
A
There are five types of chromosomes on the basis of their position:-
- Metacentric \ isobranchial chromosomes
- Submetacentric \ heterobranchial chromosomes
- Acrocentric \ sub terminal chromosomes
- Telocentric \ terminal chromosomes
- Acentric chromosomes
2
Q
What are Metacentric \ isobranchial chromosomes ?
A
- Centromere present at the center
- Both the arms are equal
- V-shaped
3
Q
What are Submetacentric \ heterobranchial chromosomes ?
A
- Centromere is present slightly away from the center.
2. L-shaped
4
Q
What are Acrocentric \ sub terminal chromosomes ?
A
- Centromere is situated near to the one end
- So one arm is very short and other arm is very long.
- J-shaped
5
Q
What are Telocentric \ terminal chromosomes ?
A
- Centromere is present at the terminals or at the end of the chromosome
- So there will be no short arm and no long arm
- I - shaped
6
Q
What are Acentric chromosomes ?
A
