What are the types of chromosomes on the basis of their position ?

A

There are five types of chromosomes on the basis of their position:-

  1. Metacentric \ isobranchial chromosomes
  2. Submetacentric \ heterobranchial chromosomes
  3. Acrocentric \ sub terminal chromosomes
  4. Telocentric \ terminal chromosomes
  5. Acentric chromosomes

What are Metacentric \ isobranchial chromosomes ?

A
  1. Centromere present at the center
  2. Both the arms are equal
  3. V-shaped

  1. Centromere is present slightly away from the center.

  2. So one arm is very short and other arm is very long.
