COMMON MITOCHONDRIA AND CHLOROPLAST Flashcards
1
Q
What are common feature of chloroplast and mitochondria ?
A
- Both divide by binary fission
- Both are called as the semi autonomous body
- Both are called cell within the cell
2
Q
Why are they known as cell within the cell ?
A
It is because they have their own DNA and ribosomes therefore they can synthesis their own proteins but some of their proteins are dependent to the nuclear DNA and cytoplasm.
3
Q
What is the endo symbiont theory ?
A
This theory is applicable to both chloroplast and mitochondria
According to this theory both the mitochondria and chloroplast are the bacterial cell which get trapped by the eukaryotic cell symbiotically.
4
Q
What are the evidences to this theory ?
A
- Present of the porins on outer membrane
- 70s ribosomes are present
- Double stranded circular DNA is present
- They reproduce through binary fission
