CELL {GENERAL} Flashcards
What is the cell ?
CELL is the structural and functional unit of life.
Classify the living organism on the basis of no. of cells ?
On the basis of no. of cells living organism are of two types :-
- UNICELLUAR {single celled organism}
- MULTICELLULAR {many celled organism}
Give some examples of unicellular and multicellular organism ?
- UNICELLUAR - eg. bacteria (monera) , amoeba (protista), paramecium (protista), , yeast (unicellular fungi) etc.
- MULTICELLULAR - eg. fungi , plant , aniamls and humans etc.
What are unicellular organism are capable of ? {ncert + neet pyq}
unicellular organism are capable of
- independent existence
- performing the essential functions of life
What makes an organism living ?
The presence of the basic unit of life - cell in an organisms makes it living.
Why cell is called the fundamental structural and and functional unit of all living organism ?
All living organism are composed of cell and anything less than cell does not ensure the independent living .
Hence , cell is called the fundamental structural and and functional unit of all living organism.
Draw the structure of amoeba .
Important to mention :-
- Pseudopodia [false feet]
- Cytoplasm
- Plasma membrane
- Nucleus
- Food particle
