Lymphatics of Pelvic Limb Flashcards
Popliteal Lymph Node
- constant
- palpable
Location: popliteal fossa (near biceps femoris m. and semitendinosus m.)
Afferent lymph vessels
-distal parts of the pelvic limb (distal to the limb node)
Efferent lymph vessels
- medial iliac lymph node
- femoral lymph node (if present)
Superficial inguinal lymph node
- constant
- palpable
Location:
Female -deep side of inguinal mammary glands
Male -along dorsolateral border of penis
Afferent lymph vessels
Female = abdominal mammary glands, inguinal mammary glands
Male = penis, prepuce, scrotum
Efferent lymph vessels
-medial iliac lymph node
Iliofemoral or deep inguinal lymph node
-inconstant
Location: dorsal to origin of deep femoral artery
Afferent lymph vessels
- Efferent lymph vessel from:
- superficial inguinal ln.
- popliteal ln.
- femoral ln.
Efferent lymph vessel
-medial iliac lymph node
Femoral lymph node
-inconstant
Location: distal part of femoral triangle
Afferent lymph vessels
- popliteal lymph node = efferent lymph vessel
- skin of medial side of pelvic limb
Efferent lymph nodes
- medial iliac lymph node
- iliofemoral lymph node
Medial iliac lymph node
- constant
- SINGLE TERMINAL LYMPH NODE of hind limb and pelvic viscera
Location: Between deep circumflex artery and external iliac artery
Afferent lymph vessels
- Efferent lymph vessels from:
- superficial inguinal ln.
- popliteal ln.
- femoral ln.
- iliofemoral ln.
Efferent lymph vessels
-lumbar trunks -> cysterna chily (CH)
Constant lymph nodes
- popliteal ln. = palpable
- superficial inguinal ln. = palpable
- medial iliac ln.
Inconstant lymph nodes
- iliofemoral or deep inguinal ln.
- femoral ln.
