Locate lymph nodes of the face
The occipital lymph node is found:
At the back of the head
The submandibular lymph nodes are found:
Below the angle of the jaw
Lymph nodes in the cheeks
Buccal Nodes
Nodes behind the ear
Post-aruricular nodes
Nodes in front of the ears above the jaw
Anterior auricular nodes
Nodes at the side of the neck
Superficial cervical nodes
Nodes deep within the neck. Form a chain along the neck.
Deep cervical nodes
These nodes drain the cheeks
Buccal nodes
All lymph from the head passes directly or indirectly through these nodes. drains the superficial nodes, tonsils and tongue.
Deep cervical nodes
These nodes drain the inner eye, nose, cheek and upper lip.
Mandibular and submandibular nodes
These nodes drain the scalp
Post-auricular nodes (Mastoid)
These nodes drain the back of the scalp and neck
Occipital nodes
These nodes drain the scalp, occipital nodes and mastoid nodes.
