Lung Fuction and Structure Flashcards
What NTs are used in parasympathetic nervous system?
Acetylcholine
What are the two different adrenoceptors and what is each one activate?
a1 - vascular smooth muscle contraction
a2 - “ “. Pre junction all regulation of NA release
What do the 3 different beta adrenoceptors activate?
b1 - heart muscles
b2 - airway smooth muscle relaxation
b3 - skeletal muscle, adipose tissue
What do the 5 muscarinic receptors activate?
M1 - CNS, salivary glands, gastric glands
M2- CNS, heart rate contraction, gi smooth muscle contraction
M3 - salivary glands, GI smooth muscle airways
M4 & 5 - CNS
Apart from relaxation of the airways what else can b2 adrenoceptors do?
Inhibit secretion of mucus on mucous glands to clear mucus
I’m terms of lungs define the following: compliance, elastance, fibrosis
Compliance - ability of lungs to stretch
Elastance - ability for lung to recoil
Fibrosis - caused by lung damage
What NTs are involved in sympathetic nervous system
Noradrenaline
