lower limb bones Flashcards
introduction to hip bone
articulation side determination
articulation – head of femur
pub8s of another hip bone , sacrum
side determination— acetabulum directed laterally
obturator foramen lies below the acetabulum
ileum external features
2 ends 3 borders 3 surfaces
ends of ileum
upper ends – iliac crest
*ant end of iliac crest called as anterior superior iliac spine
post end called post superior iliac spine
it may be divided into 2 parts
a)ventral seg -2/3rd of iliac crest it has outerlip, innerlip.. outerlip is 5cm behind ASIS
b)dorsal seg - post 1/3rd
lower end – fused with pubis
borders of ileum
a) ant border – from ASIS to acetabulum having AIIS
b)post border – from PSIS to post border of ischium having PIIS and sciatic notch
c) medial border – iliac crest to iliopubic eminence ..in inner part separate iliac fossa and sacropelvic surface
surfaces of ileum
a) gluteal surface – post ant inferior gluteal line
b) iliac fossa – smooth large concave area ,forms the wall of greater pelvis
c)sacropelvic surface – subdivisions of iliac tuberosity. auricular surface ,pelvic surface
ischium external features
2 ends ,3 borders 3 surfaces
ends of ischium
upper end – 2/5of acetabulum
lower end –forms ischial tuberosity
borders of ischium
a) ant border - forms posterior margin of obturator foramen
b) post border - shows projection of ischial spine
c) lateral border – forms lateral margin of ischial tuberosity
