What are the RCP limitations without NC?

Answer 1

Only NC lost = Restore within 10 minutes
NC and Seal injection lost = Restore NC within 3 minutes
If time not met
- trip the Reactor
- Stop all RCPs
- isolate Seal Bleedoff

TCA to prevent RCP bearing seizure

30 minutes = Loss of NC, shutdown RCP and isolate cooling water
10 minutes = Loss of NC, cross tie EW

When RCPs are stopped and have no cooling water, bleed off flow is no longer being cooled by NC, seal damage may result and cause a LOCA

• trip the reactor
• trip RCPs
• isolated seal Bleedoff
• GO TO appropriate procedure

Invoke LCO 3.0.6 and perform the SFDP

Declare the following INOP, but do not enter the conditions or perform the required actions

- CS
- EW
- AFA
- CREATCS
