What is the MOA of Loratidine?
A
Loratidine is a non sedating antihistamine It blocks (antagonises) peripheral histamine receptors - blocking the action of histamine and reducing itching and redness

What are the indications for loratidine?
A
- minor allergic reactions confined to the skin
* prominent itch associated with anaphlaxis provided all systemic signs of anaphylaxis have resolved

What are the contraindications and cautions for loratidine?
A
- Known severe allergy to loratidine
- Age less than one year
Loratidine should only be given to pregnant women with caution (and should usually be withheld)

What doseage of loratidine should be administered?
A
10mg for an adult or child over 12 years
5mg for a child aged 1-11 years
