What is the MOA for Entonox?
A
MOA of Nitrous Oxide poor understood
- suppresses CNS impulses
- bocks N-methyl-d-asparate (NMDA) receptors
- Stimulation of gamma amino-butyric acid (GABA) receptors

What is the indication for Entonox?
A
Moderate to severe pain, usually in addition to other measures

What are the contraindications for Entonox?
A
- known severe allergy
- Unable to obey commands
- Suspected pnuemothorax
- Suspected bowel obstruction
- SCUBA diving in last 24 hours
- SCUBA diving related emergency

What are the cautions for Entonox?
A
- Administration within a confined space (ambulance is not a considered a confined space)
- repeated use associated with psychological dependence, bone marrow suppression and neurological disorders

What are adverse effects of Entonox?
A
- Sedation/light headedness
- Euphoria
- Metallic taste
