What is the MOA for aspirin?
A
- Antipyretic, antiplatelet, analgesic and antiinflammatory
2. Inhibits cylcooxygenase which reduces prostaglandin and thromboxane production

A
Myocardial ischaemia

What are the contraindications for aspirin?
A
- Known severe allergy
* Third trimester of pregnancy

What are the cautions for aspirin?
A
- Known bleeding disorder
- Clinically significant bleeding
- Known worsening of bronchospasms with NSAIDs

Can aspiring be used in pregnancy or when breastfeeding?
A
- Aspirin should generally be withheld as it may cause harm to the baby (particularly in third trime)
- Aspirin can be taken by breastfeeding mums but they should stop breastfeeding and contact their LMC

What are the potential adverse effects of aspirin?
