LO3 - Network Connection Methods: Flashcards
What is a LAN?
Local Area Network - A network confined to one site relatively small in size, with the connected computer systems being located in the same building.
What is MAN?
Metropolitan Area Network - A network covering the range of a town or city, such as a university campus or airport.
What is a WAN?
Wide Area Network - A network spanning the range of a large geographical area, such as across countries.

What are Satellite Networks?
Satellite networks utilise point-to-point communication using orbital satellites above the Earth’s atmosphere.
What are Diagrammatical Representations?
A diagram representing how networks are connected to each other, such as between a LAN and a WAN.
