What are the three types of Primary Storage?
1) Random Access Memory (RAM),
2) Read-Only Memory (ROM),
3) Virtual Memory.
What are the three types of Secondary Storage?
1) Magnetic Storage,
2) Optical Storage,
3) Solid State Storage.
What is Primary Storage?
Primary storage is hardware devices that are checked / utilised first, before secondary storage devices.
What is Secondary Storage?
Secondary storage is non-volatile, and is retained long-term when the computer system is powered off.
What is Random Access Memory (RAM)?
RAM is a volatile data store, and stores data currently being used by the CPU.
What is Read Only Memory (ROM)?
ROM is a non-volatile data store, and is attached to the Motherboard, typically containing factory settings for hardware devices.
What is Virtual Memory?
Virtual memory is secondary storage used as virtual RAM. It is non-volatile, and only used if maximum RAM capacity is reached.
What are three types of Magnetic Storage?
1) Hard Disk Drive (HDD),
2) Magnetic Tape,
3) Floppy Disks.
What are three types of Optical Storage?
1) CD Disks,
2) DVD Disks,
3) Blue-Ray Disks.
What are three types of Solid State Storage?
1) Solid State Drive (SSD),
2) Universal Serial Bus (USB) Drive,
3) Pen / Floppy Drives.
