what is the rehabilitation of offenders act 1974 ideas based of?
A
giving people a chance or opportunity.

what is the rehabilitation of offenders act 1974?
A
- offenders gain employment (without declaring any convictions) is they have a basic DBS.
- by achieving no convictions during their rehabilitation period they get this opportunity by only being in prison for less than 4 years.
- once someone convictions are ‘spent’ (hidden) using a basic DBS they can work normally. however not with children or vulnerable groups of people as they will need an enhanced DBS (which shows their convictions).

what is de-barring?
A
it is the list on the back of the DBS which shows the places that your banned from working in.

what can’t employers do to employees’ if they have a spent conviction.
A
they can’t refuse to employee someone someone if they have had a spent conviction unless they have a de-barring list or have lied about it on their application form.
