- are they safe? (Protected from harm/abuse)?
- are they effective? (Achieving good outcomes)
- are they caring? (Kindness and respect)
- are they responsive to people’s needs? (Meeting people’s needs)
- are they well-led? (Approachable staff and manager relationship)

what’s the grading?
A
green star = outstanding
green = good
orange = requires improvement
red = inadequate

if somewhere is inadequate then what can happen?
A
the place can be closed down or they can have a certain amount of time before they will come and check to see improvements.

what do they over see?
A
registration of health and social care settings, they inspect the quality of the service being provided.

what is this act and how does it work?
A
established the care quality commission as a regulator (CQC). so, you must register with the CQC and apply to open where they will inspect the setting to then award the grades.
