if a person is requiring care what are they entitled to?
a needs assessment.
if someone is eligible for care/support, what then takes place.
a Care Plan is then designed to show what will be provided & how it will be funded
why does the carer of an individual need to do a carers assessment?
to see if they are capable of doing the role, to see if they are lacking mental capacity or if they are seen as not suitable.
what is meant by making sure that continuity of care must be provided?
that care shouldn’t change between one place to another eg: Worcester to Birmingham the care level should be the same.
what duty does the local authority have with the care act 2014?
to promote ‘individual’s well-being’ when making decisions. (‘Well-being Principle’)
what does CNA stand for?
child’s needs assessments
why must a child’s needs assessments need to be carried out?
to see if support is still needed for an individual after the age of 18.
at what age is assessments given out under the child’s needs assessments when moving into adulthood?
16/17
why is safeguarding put in place?
to make sure that cases of abuse/neglect must be investigated ect…
why is there independent advocate available for individuals?
to help adult/carer during assessments.
why do independent advocate have such an important role?
support someone in decision making, non judgemental, don’t talk on behalf of someone, help give someone a voice.
what must LA’s provide?
preventative services to delay/reduce development of care/support needs - making adjustments to care plans
what needs to happen is LA’s are working with other public services like housing and health.
moving people to better accommodation (like a bungalow), adding ramps, lifts, stair rails, seats in showers and transport help.
what can LA’s also pay for to carry out the assessments?
private organisations like Age UK.
