What does bile do?
Emulsifies fats (breaking them down into tiny droplets).
What are the tiny droplets that fats are broken down into called?
Micelles
What are micelles easily broken down by?
Lipases
What is another function of the liver?
All blood travelling to the capillaries of the small intestine go directly to the liver before the heart.
Why does the blood travelling to the capillaries of the small intestine go directly to the liver before the heart?
For the removal of toxins.
What is a third function of the liver?
Producing and storing various nutrients including glycogen and A, D, E, and K.
