Lidocaine MOA Local anesthetic
Inhibits the ionic fluxes required for the initiation and conduction of neural impulses, effecting local anesthetic action
Lidocaine MOA Antiarrhythmic
Raises electrical stimulation threshold of the ventricle during diastole
Lidocaine Indications
Ventricular arrhythmias
Local anesthetic
Lidocaine Contraindications
STOKES-ADAMS syndrome
Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome
Severe heart block
Lidocaine Dosing
50-100 mg
No more than 200-300 mg during a one hour period
Lidocaine Adverse Effects
Hypotension
Bradycardia
Lidocaine Pediatric Dosing
1 mg/kg bolus per AHA guidelines
Lidocaine Drug Class
Class I antiarrhythmic
Local anesthetic
Lidocaine and CPB
Often used in an additive component in cardioplegia
May be given after cross clamp removal
