Cranial diabetes Insipidus
mild to moderate von Willebrand’s Disease
Hemophilia A - factor VIII coagulant levels >5%
Desmopressin Contraindications
Moderate to severe renal impairment
Hyponatremia

4 mcg/mL vials
0.3 mcg/kg over 15-20 min

Evidence shows an increase in von Willebrand factor and factor VIII

Increase cAMP in renal tubules, increasing water permeability, decreasing urine volume

The cascade that produces cAMP also induces exocytosis of von Willebrand factor, factor VIII. and alpha granules of platelets
