Barriers to effective communication

A

Information overload: when information exceeds our processing capacity

Filtering: the deliberate manipulation of information to make it appear more favorable to the receiver

Emotions: How a receiver feels influences how he or she interprets it. Extreme emotions are most likely to hinder effective communication.

Language:
Jargon: specialized terminology or
technical language that members of a
group use to communicate among
themselves

Silence - silence or lack of communication because it’s defined by the absence of information. But the meaning would be different and difficult to interpret.

National culture- Every aspect of global communication is influenced by cultural differences.
