What are PPE Regulations 1992?
States that where risks cannot be controlled by other means, PPE should be correctly identified and used. Employers must provide appropriate PPE to their staff and places a duty on employees to use PPE appropriately.
What are the Working at Height Regulations?
The main principle is to avoid working at height where possible by using extended tools rather than ladders. The purpose is to prevent death and injury caused by falling and the rules apply to all employers.
What are workplace regulations 1992?
Covers a range of basic health and safety and welfare issues that apply to most workplaces – excludes construction work/sites. It puts requirements for ventilation, temperature, lighting, workstations etc.
What are the key principles of Control of Asbestos Regs?
- Thsoe responsible for mainteance have a duty to manage
- If asbestos is in good condition/not likely to be damaged should be left in place
- If works to asbestos, identify type and confition, assess the risks and manage
- Majority of work to be carried out by a licensed contractor
- Training is mandatory for anyone who is going to be close proximty to asbestos
- Brief written records should be maintained of non-licensed work
- Licesned and non-licensed notifable workers must be under health surveillance from doctor

What are the government targets for reducing emissions that you mention?
Climate Change Act?
Legislation that sets out emissions reductions within the UK by 80% by 2050 which was updated in 2019 to be net zero by 2050.
What are MEES and when might they be relevant to your work?
The minimum energy efficiency standard (MEES) was introduced in March 2015 by the Energy Efficiency (Private Rented Property) (England and Wales) Regulations 2015.
The MEES Regulations originate from the Energy Act 2011 which contained the previous coalition government’s package of energy efficiency policies including the Green Deal.
