What are PPE Regulations 1992?

A

States that where risks cannot be controlled by other means, PPE should be correctly identified and used. Employers must provide appropriate PPE to their staff and places a duty on employees to use PPE appropriately.

  • If asbestos is in good condition/not likely to be damaged should be left in place
  • If works to asbestos, identify type and confition, assess the risks and manage
  • Majority of work to be carried out by a licensed contractor
  • Training is mandatory for anyone who is going to be close proximty to asbestos
  • Brief written records should be maintained of non-licensed work
  • Licesned and non-licensed notifable workers must be under health surveillance from doctor

A

The minimum energy efficiency standard (MEES) was introduced in March 2015 by the Energy Efficiency (Private Rented Property) (England and Wales) Regulations 2015.
The MEES Regulations originate from the Energy Act 2011 which contained the previous coalition government’s package of energy efficiency policies including the Green Deal.

Explain your uderstanding of the Building Safey Act 2022?

A

Brought in to make buildings and residents safer
Building Safety Regulator which will sit within the Health and Safety Executive.
including taking over the building control role for higher-risk buildings, enforcing sanctions for non-compliance, improving the competence of those working on those buildings and overseeing the safety of those buildings in occupation.
Also introducing more measures into preventing leaseholders to paying costs.

Explain your understanding of the Frei Safety Act 2021?

A

The act will require Responsible Persons of multi-occupied residential buildings with two or more sets of domestic premises to update their fire risk assessment to include an assessment of the building’s structure, external walls, and flat entrance doors.
It also includes requirements for quartely fire door checks of building over 11m
Building over 18m also requires secure information box, design and materials of external walls
floor and building plans
Lifts and firefighting equipment
Wayfinding signage
