What are the characteristics of the equine penis prepuce?
-telescopic
-distal end of flaccid prepuce proper is the preputial orifice
-distal end of the flaccid preputial fold is the preputial ring
What are the characteristics of the equine urethral sinus?
-contains fossa glandis
-sits caudodorsal
-can become obstructed by penile bean

What is unique about arterial pressure, in regards to the equine penis?
requires a very high pressure (3500-3700 mmHg) to fill
What are the characteristics of a fibroelastic penis?
-seen in swine and ruminants
-elastic tissue makes it rigid, requiring less blood flow
-presence of sigmoid flexure makes retractor penis m. more important
-less dramatic increase in arterial pressure (80mmHg)
What are the characteristics of the urethral process?
-seen in bulls, rams, and goats
-extends beyond glans
-tapers at distal end
-taper can be removed if impaction occurs
What are the characteristics of the boar penis?
-corkscrew shape
-present preputial diverticulum
What is the direction of testicles in cattle, horses, and pigs?
-cattle: up and down
-horse: 45 degree angle to the ground
-pig: horizontal to the ground
Which primary structures are involved with the testicle?
-epididymis
-ductus deferens
What are the functions of the male accessory sex glands?
-add volume for semen and ejaculate
-provides nutrition to spermatozoa
-buffers acidic pH of female repro. tract
How does the prostate differ in location from a disseminated prostate?
-prostate is along urethra caudal to urinary bladder
-disseminated prostate is embedded within wall of urethra caudal to urinary bladder
Where is the bulbourethral gland found?
dorsal surface of caudal portion of pelvic urethra
