what are these types of conformity: compliance, obedience and acceptance

A
  • conformity is where you change behavior because of (imagined) social pressure)
  • Compliance: You follow a request (can you get me a cup of coffee)
  • Obedience: you follow someone’s order because of their authority (boss tells you to get a him a cup of coffee)
  • Acceptance: you become more convinced that something is the right thing to do, so you do it.

A

  • Informational influence means that if a lot of people think in a way, it must be true
  • Formative influence means you want to “go along” so you behave by the norm.
