Lecture 6: Coronary Circulation, Conduction System of Heart Flashcards
Where do coronary arteries branch from?
Ascending aorta
What does the right coronary artery supply?
Right atrium and ventricle, diaphragmatic surface of left ventricle, SA node (55%), AV node (90%)
What does the left coronary artery supply?
Left atrium and ventricle, bit of right ventricle, SA node (45%), AV node (10%)
What type of arteries are the coronarys?
Functional end arteries
Where are the anastomoses of the coronary arteries?
Posterior inter ventricular branch and anterior inter ventricular branches.
Right coronary artery and circumflex branch
What is coronary heart disease?
Blockage in coronary arteries
What is the pathway of the right coronary artery?
Right coronary artery, right marginal branch, posterior inter ventricular branch
What is the pathway of the left coronary artery?
Left coronary artery, anterior interventricular branch, circumflex - gives off left marginal
What is angiography?
Inserting dye via catheter into the heart to assess arteries
What is angioplasty?
Inserting balloon on end of catheter to inflate in artery to push material to sides to clear artery
What vessels are used in bypass surgery?
Radial, internal thoracic, saphenous
Where does the great cardiac vein sit?
Anterior interventricular groove and wrapping around with circumflex artery
Where is the middle cardiac vein?
Posterior interventricular groove
Where is the small cardiac vein and what does it drain?
Where the right marginal artery is - drains right side
What drains the left side of the heart?
Left marginal vein
