Lecture 12: Peritoneal Cavity Flashcards
Where is pain from the parietal peritoneum referred?
Dermatome overlying
What organs are in the foregut?
Oesophagus, stomach, proximal duodenum, biliary tract (gall bladder and ducts), liver, pancreas, spleen
What is the blood supply to the foregut?
Celiac trunk
Where is pain from the foregut referred to?
Lower end of sternum - transpyloric plane
What organs are in the midgut?
Distal duodenum, jejunum, ilieum, large intestine until transverse colon
What is the blood supply to the midgut?
Superior mesenteric vessels
What organs are in the hindgut?
Descending colon, sigmoid colon, rectum and upper part of anal canal
What is the blood supply to the hindgut?
Inferior mesenteric vessels and superior renal vessels
What laterally places paired abdominal viscera develop without peritoneum?
Urogenital and endocrine system
What is the movement of the stomach during development?
Clockwise rotation with super part of abdominal cavity so liver gets pushed to the right and spleen gets pushed further to the left
What is the mesenteric connection between the stomach and the spleen?
Gastrosplenic ligament
What is splenorenal ligament?
Mesentery connecting anterior kidney and spleen
What makes viscera secondarily retroperitoneal?
Only have peritoneum on anterior aspect but have mesentery
What is fusion fascia?
Fusion of the mesentery with the parietal peritoneum on the posterior abdominal wall - which may act as pathway for vessels
What are parabolic gutters?
Fixed parts of peritoneum alongside viscera
