Between T12 and L1
Celiac Trunk 3 main branches (sup. to inf.)
Left Gastric, Splenic, Common Hepatic
Sup. and Inf. Mesenteric artery vertebral level?
L1 and L3 respectively
Venous Drainage of foregut?
Portal Vein
Nerve Plexus of Foregut?
Coeliac Plexus (T12)
Lymphatics of foregut?
Pre-aortic nodes (T12)
Stomach: landmark locations of Fundus, Oesophagus and Pylorus?
Ribs 5/6; Costal Cartilage 7/8; L1 vertebrae level
3 layers of stomach muscle (out to in)?
Longitudinal, circular, oblique
Rugae?
increase surface area of oblique muscle
Stomach lesser curvature blood supply?
Left and Right gastric
Stomach greater curvature blood supply?
Left and right Gastro-omental
Stomach fundus blood supply?
short gastric artery
1st part of duodenum?
Immediately following pylorus of stomach at trans-pyloric line
2nd part of duodenum?
Descending, wrapss around head of pancreas, RHS of midline
3rd part of duodenum?
Passes left over midline over inferior vena cava and aorta
4th part of duodenum?
ascends to form duodenojejunal flexure (LHS of midline)
Arterial supply of duodenum?
Superior and inferior pancreaticoduodenal branches (sup. and inf. half respectively)
ANS supply of duodenum?
Coelic plexus @ T12 (sup half); Superior Mesenteric Plexus (inf. half)
Venous Drainage of duodenum?
Portal vein (sup half direct, inf. half via SMV)
Ampulla of Vater?
Union of common vile duct & Main Pancreatic Duct
Major Duodenal Papilla?
Through wall of 2nd part, controls flow of bile and pancreatic fluids via Sphincter of Oddi
